Disable SMS Sync to Exchange on your Android Phone
Last modified 2/14/2022
After configuring an Android mobile device to receive your Illinois State University's Microsoft 365 mail, all text messages sent to the Android device are also being sent as emails.
Before you begin
When you configure your Android device, you add the new email account and it will ask if you wish to sync information. After setting up the account you realize you may not want to sync all.
To stop the text from being sent as emails
To remove the sync for SMS:
- Select Email from home screen.
- Select the Account that is getting the text messages.
- Select the Options menu from the bottom left of the phone.
- Select More, then Account Settings.
- Scroll thru the account settings for an entry called "SMS sync".
- This should be listed in the "Server settings" section of that page. Uncheck "SMS sync".
Getting Help
If you need technical assistance with your Android device, Submit a Help Ticket, or call the Technology Support Center at (309) 438-4357, or by email at ITHelp@Ilstu.edu.
