How to Change Default Audio Devices

To change your default audio devices for your computer, plug in the desired audio devices you wish to use, then follow the follow directions according to your device:
Windows
- Open Windows settings by clicking the windows icon in the lower left corner and then the settings icon.
- Select [System]
- Select [Sound] in the left menu bar
- Select the device you wish to use to listen under Choose your output device (ex: external speakers, or headphones)
- Select the device you wish to use to speak under Choose your input device (ex: external microphone or headphone attached microphone)
Mac
- Open your System Preferences by selecting the Apple Icon in the upper left corner and selecting [System Preferences]
- Select [Sound]
- Select [Output] or [Input] in the top menu bar
- If you chose output, select the device you want to use to listen in the list of sound output devices.
- If you chose input, select the device you want to use to speak in the list of sound input devices.
Chromebook
- Select settings in the lower right color.
- Press the arrow in the upper right corner of the settings pop up to extend the settings.
- Next to the volume option select the headphones icon to open audio settings
- Select the device you wish to use to listen under Output (ex: external speakers, or headphones)
- Select the device you wish to use to speak under Input (ex: external microphone or headphone attached microphone)
Note: For the audio settings to appear you must have your devices already plugged into the Chromebook.
