Removing a Shared Calendar in Outlook

You can remove shared calendars from Outlook and Microsoft 365. You can always add shared calendars back when you need them again.

Removing a Shared Calendar

If you want to remove a shared calendar from the list of calendars on the left side of your Outlook or Microsoft 365 (Outlook Web App) window, you can do so.

Outlook Desktop App and Microsoft 365 (Outlook Web App)

If you want to remove the shared calendar from from your list of calendars in Outlook or Office 365, do the following:

  1. Do one of the following:
    • Open Outlook
    • Navigate to Office365.IllinoisState.edu, sign in and then click the Calendar App icon . If you do not see the Icon for your Calendar App, click the All Apps icon to display all applications available to you.
  2. Click Calendar from the Left-side menu of the window.
  3. Right-click on the Calendar you wish to remove. A pop-up menu will appear.
  4. Take one of the following actions:
    • In Outlook, click Delete Calendar from the pop-up menuNote: If Delete is not an option, you do not have permission to delete it. 
    • In Microsoft 365, click Remove Calendar from the pop-up menu.
  5. The calendar will disappear from your list of calendars.
    • The Calendar has not actually been deleted or removed from the Exchange Server. It has only been removed from your list.
    • You can add the shared calendar back to your list of calendars at any time by following the instructions for opening a shared calendar. Refer to the following article: Open a Shared Calendar in Microsoft 365.

Outlook Mobile App for iOS and Android

If you want to remove a shared calendar from the mobile app version of Outlook, follow the steps below:

  1. Navigate to the Calendar section at the bottom of the Outlook app.
  2. In the upper left-hand corner, tap the Menu button.
  3. In the menu that appears, tap the Gear icon next to the calendar you would like to remove. Tap on Remove Shared Calendar to the remove the calendar.
